Update Detector can help you update the software on your PC. This way you will always benefit from the latest version of the installed software. Actually, this program’s graphic user interface is practically inexistent as it will be limited to a settings dialog box, which you will hardly ever need to use. Most of the time, the program will be running from the system tray after starting automatically along with your system. It will perform periodic checks on the software on your computer and compare the installed versions with the latest versions stored on the developer’s site database.
Thus, every time you start your computer, this tool alerts you of new updates. However, it requires an Internet connection not only to compare the installed versions with the new releases but also to show you what the updates are and provide you the links to download them. Thus, these reports will only be available using a web browser to display the corresponding online web page.
In general, Update Detector is a very light free program. It seemed to do its work right, although I have the perception that some applications might be missing from their database. Another limitation is that it does not check for the latest drivers’ versions, which is as important as having the latest versions of your applications.
Find updates for all the software applications installed on your computer.
